My name is Phil Walker. I am now retired and one of my hobbies is designing, making and photographing sundials. I am a member of the British Sundial Society. and I am also interested in computing and the Internet. This is how I became involved in the EarthDial project. Have a look at my website : www.sunandshadows.net to see articles on Roman sundials, sun compasses, Viking navigation etc., as well as many photos of sundials |

We live in the small English town of Newport, located at latitude 52
° 46' North and longitude 2° 22' West. Newport is in the county
of Shropshire, on the border with Staffordshire, and is the centre of
a rural farming area. The photo is of St. Nicholas' Church and the High Street |

Based on the design and instructions in the Earthdial website , my Earthdial is much smaller at approximately 450 mm diameter, but otherwise substantially similar, except that I have added declination lines for each zodiac sign. I added the coats-of-arms of, on the left side, Newport and, on the right
side, Shropshire. |
