Painted Dial

The dial is painted in black on the red sandstone of the church porch. The motto, at the bottom of the dial in Gothic script, reads "As a shadow so is life". The inscription painted in white on the wood at the top of the dial reads "Thos. Beetenson Ch.Wn. 1753" Thos. is the abbreviation for Thomas and Ch. Wn. for Church Warden.
